Violence of any kind has no place in the City of Vaughan

Sandra Yeung Racco asks that members of the community come forward to partners at York Regional Police to help

VAUGHAN, ON: The following statement was issued by Sandra Yeung Racco, in response to the violent acts that took place at a restaurant in Vaughan:

“I was disappointed to receive news of the crimes that took place this past Saturday evening. Violence of any kind has no place in the City of Vaughan. Although investigators believe this incident was isolated, members of our community were put at risk, and that is unacceptable.

As part of the 2018-2022 Term of Council Strategic Plan, Active, Safe and Diverse Communities is a priority pillar, and much work has been done to ensure our citizens feel safe and welcome.

Vaughan continues to be one of the safest communities in Canada. As Mayor, I will continue to work with my strategic partners at York Regional Police and all levels of government to ensure the City of Vaughan continues to be the most desirable place to live, work and play.

I encourage anyone with information to contact the #4 District Criminal Investigation Bureau at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7441, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip online at www.1800222tips.com.”
